Geotechnics is essentially included in almost entire civil engineering projects, either by confidently underpinning valuable structures in the place or using the geo-materials known as soils/rocks as construction materials.
Landfill engineering, soil embankments, slope stability, ground improvements, reinforced soils and trench cuttings as part of road and railway projects is broadly established at Hexa as well as bridge substructure design which is firm’s specialty. Hexa has always tried to mitigate geotechnical risks in conjunction with economical and sustainable design throughout variety of its projects.
For very recent example in Lali Bridge Foundation :
Dealing with uncertainties involved in foundations - interacting with ground - becomes even more complicated than the structure itself; for instance, in one of the firm’s bridge projects in the Lali grand cable stayed bridge spanning 256m in the middle, had to be founded on inclined silt-stone mountain with mud-stone inter-layers where foundations and most of the piers were to be submerged later on, in a lake shaped by the Upper Gotvand Dam ahead in the valley.
Having dealt with such challenge, Hexa came up with a huge double drilled shaft foundation system in order to cope with uncertainties particularly in terms of adjacent geo-material undergoing physical changes when they become saturated.
